Introduction

Welcome to the TechHuman Podcast. I am Jonathan Ebsworth, one of the Founders of the TechHuman.org site and I will be hosting discussions with some of my friends, exploring different areas where technology is impinging on our daily lives. We want to help explain a little bit about how the technology works, and delve into what its impact is and might be on our lives.

Whether we love technology or are suspicious of it; it is increasingly hard to avoid. Through these conversations we want uncover some practical insights into some of the most significant opportunities and challenges that emerge. At the heart of our conversations will be two intertwined themes – what does it mean to be fully human and how can we live well in an increasingly ‘digital’ world.

One of my regular guests will be my TechHuman co-founder, Professor John Wyatt who having been a consultant neonatologist and academic focussing on the mechanisms, treatment and prevention of brain damage in newborn infants. He is now researching new ethical, philosophical and theological challenges caused by advances in both technology and medicine.

Who is this for?

Everyone who is interested in understanding the impact of technology on aspects of human life and society should find something of interest. The podcast is aimed at adults and older teens who want better to understand the issues that surround technology advances – both the positive and more worrying. We start from an orthodox Christian perspective that humankind is created uniquely in the image of God – and that our humanity was designed for embodied relationships. Our conversations should be relevant to those of any faith or of none who are interested in better understanding the impact of technology on our lives today and in the future.
